Introducing Vicky Torrance | ACT Thank You Meal | Project and Funding Updates

ACT News #5 - January 2025
Happy New Year!!! We have rebegan our project work, and have some exciting updates to share about the future of the trust…

Welcome Vicky Torrance

We are delighted to officially welcome our new CEO, Vicky Torrance, to Ascension Community Trust! Vicky started with us in December, and has taken the time to get to know our projects, as well as make positive steps towards improving how we run as an organisation. She is excited to support our team as we continue to grow, and we are looking forward to seeing what she does with the role!

Emotion In Motion Returns

After some time away, Emotion in Motion dance group has returned to our regular programming! Here are some thoughts from Negar, who leads the sessions:

“The Persian Dance Class resumed in January 2025. It’s heartwarming to witness new faces joining alongside familiar ones. The sight of children dancing with their parents is genuinely inspiring, showcasing the joy of movement across all ages. The dance goes beyond just physical movement.; it’s about unity, joy, problem-solving, and sharing an hour filled with growth and fun.”

If you would like to take part, come to Ascension Church Centre on Wednesday evenings, 7-8pm. They are free to join and everyone is welcome!

Complex Needs Project

Our Supported Volunteers are back in the kitchen cooking for our Community Meal and Food Bank.

They’ve been learning a load of new skills, including practicing using a vegetable peeler for the first time! We hope to keep providing a secure environment for adults with complex needs to develop their skills.

Thank You Celebration

On the 17th January, we had our annual thank you event for staff and volunteers, where we celebrated everything we’ve achieved together over a meal, and were thanked by ascension church

and our new CEO. It was lovely to have staff from so many different projects in the same room to celebrate, and we thank the DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel for hosting us!

Funding Update – Advice Service

We would like to thank Souter Charitable Trust for funding our Advice Service! This money will allow us to keep offering free, confidential support to vulnerable members of our community.

Thank you for reading – our next newsletter will be published Week Beginning 24th February!
